Implementation & Delivery

Deliver Change

We help turn strategies and ideas into action, providing the leadership, coordination and practical support needed to deliver the work.

Working alongside your team and partners, we connect the people, decisions and activities involved and take responsibility for seeing agreed work through.

Support to make things happen

Delivering a project takes time, attention and coordination. Even with a clear direction, there are decisions to work through, relationships to maintain and practical details to manage.

We bring additional capacity and an independent perspective, helping you organise the work and maintain progress. Our involvement can cover a particular stage or extend from initial planning through to delivery.

Throughout, we keep the purpose of the project connected to the decisions being made.

How we can help

  1. 01Implementation planningTranslate a strategy or idea into clear activities, responsibilities and milestones.
  2. 02Project leadershipLead agreed areas of work and support timely, informed decisions.
  3. 03Project coordinationManage activity across teams, partners and contributors.
  4. 04Creative and cultural project deliveryBring together the relationships and specialist contributions needed to deliver the project.
  5. 05Launch and ongoing supportCoordinate the introduction of an initiative and support its continued delivery where needed.

Our approach

We work as part of your team, getting familiar with the context and agreeing where our involvement will add the most value.

We establish clear responsibilities and ways of working, then stay close to the people and details involved. We follow up, address issues and adapt with you as circumstances change.

You work directly with the people doing the work. That continuity helps us carry the original thinking through into delivery and remain accountable for our part in the outcome.

In their words

“He doesn’t just navigate complexity; he transforms it into forward momentum. Complex projects with multiple moving parts and competing interests become achievable.”
Justin CarterChief Executive, Te Ātiawa o te Waka-a-Māui

I’ve worked with Johny and the O’D&Co whānau on a range of projects over the last 6 years. I’ve always admired Johny’s way of thinking and operating.

He’s willing and capable of taking on big, curly kaupapa that many would shy away from. He’s thoughtful in his approach, carefully assessing the needs and quirks of different partners, stakeholders, and collaborators, able to carefully orchestrate engagements and interactions that would often be culturally or relationally charged.

I trust his judgement, deeply respect his views, and value the insights he offers. While the kaupapa he often takes on usually carry a high degree of complexity, I always look forward to working alongside him and his team.

I have considerable regard for the wisdom and mana of Johny. He has provided me with great advice and some logical rationale and thinking in our debates over the past few years.

O’D&CO has worked on a range of projects with Nelson City Council and has proven to be a highly skilled partner whose support has ensured the initiative’s success, ranging from policy, communication, engagement, and project management.

The approach is rigorous, well-considered, and grounded in a strong understanding of Iwi/Māori partnerships and stakeholder needs. Throughout our work together, Johny has demonstrated exceptional judgment and a commitment to producing work of the highest standard.

Nigel PhilpottCEO, Nelson City Council

Johny approaches everything he does with genuine manaaki and generosity for those he’s working with. His relational approach, mixed with endless rigour, means he can manage complex projects with layers of stakeholders and team members. His fluency of working with iwi, council, community, businesses, and holding space for their individual needs within projects is second to none. His art is the ability to get the most out of these groups, in a way that benefits the whole, and creates outcomes that can only happen when people come together.
